Am I just being too self-centred? I thought this a while after writing the previous post.
-
I recalled reading a book that teaches how to be a highly effective teens. Before setting off to school, I manage to grab the book and read it during the bus journey.
-
I remembered about the "personal bank account", before one ever win in the public arenas of life, one has to first win private battles within themselves. E.g of PBA (personal bank account) deposits is keeping promise to yourself, do small act of kindness, likewise, a PBA withdrawal is breaking personal promises and keep to yourself, being dishonest.
-
And as I look through the section whereby they explain what is meant by poor and healthy PBA, I wasn't shocked to find myself having a poor PBA.
-
Some of the symptoms of having poor PBA is
- You cave in to peer pressure easily.
- You wrestle with feelings of depression and inferiority.
- You're overly concerned about what other think of you.
- You act arrogant to help hide your insecurities.
- You self-destruct by getting heavily on drugs, pornography, vandalism, or gangs.
- You get jealous easily, especially when someone close to you succeeds.
-
Wow, I find that I'm having most of the symptoms now, Oh... except for that drug, porn symptoms of course... lol.
-
Then as I continue skimming through the book. Another section grab me. Its that 'seek first to understand then to be understood'. I tried that today, and even though not everything is according to plan, our group is at least better off than previous meeting = /
